As I lay on the floor and opened my eyes I beheld the most wondrous ceiling. Fluctuations of sunlight played across the room revealing the rich texture of the tiles above my head. My body felt completely relaxed and the tangle of thoughts usually writhing within my head lay quietly to one side. I could almost taste the essence of peace.

This is how I felt at the end of my first yoga class over 30 years ago and the experience began my yoga journey.

The wondrous tiles were actually very ordinary polystyrene tiles, shortly removed as a fire hazard, the floor was hard, my mat thin and my life busy, but somehow the yoga session had brought me to a state where I could see beauty and peace all around. (and my backache gone!)

As a BWY qualified yoga teacher, with more than 2 decades of teaching experience, I like to make my teaching as clear and accessible as possible. Each class involves postures, breathing and relaxation. I offer many alternatives to all the yoga work we do in the classes so everyone works at the level that suits them. By working with the physical body, by focusing and concentrating the mind, by allowing the breath to sooth or energise, the outer layers of ourselves become calm, revealing an inner light, a place of calm and peace.

In 2017 I realised I was taking life far to seriously and also qualified as a Laughter Yoga Leader with Lotte Mikkelson and the Laughter Yoga International University. Following the teachings of Dr Madan Kataria, MD
